Global South Films Global North Voices

Cinema of the Developing World encourages students to engage with films from the Global South that confront post-colonial issues and Post 9/11 Geopolitics through diverse forms of indigenous and transnational storytelling.

The writing collected here was composed by students in hand-written journals immediately after each screening and later assembled into collective essays honoring both shared response and productive disagreement.

Where the Films Come From

FILM 3250 uses the "What's Up South" map projection which places the Southern Hemisphere at the top — reframing which half of the world takes center stage. The green pins mark the geographical origin or primary setting of each film.
